Position Summary
The Director of Care (DOC) is the Registered Nurse who has overall responsibility for management of high quality clinical and personal care and lifestyle services for all permanent and respite consumers within Cultura’s Commonwealth funded residential care areas.
Within this area, the DOC is also responsible for organisation of care documentation and budgets as well as maintaining accuracy and currency of the Government Funding Instrument/Tool submissions. Staffing engagement, rostering, performance review, and management of underperformance, together with engagement of contractors to facilitate care services, and interviewing prospective new consumers, are all included within the role.
This position will be contracted on a Permanent Full Time basis, working 38 hours per week.
Duties
- Co-ordination of nursing, personal care and lifestyle staff recruitment, appointment and orientation.
- Supervise and oversee staffing rosters to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Seek and respond to feedback from residents/representatives.
- Maintain the privacy and confidentiality of resident personal and health information.
- Attend regular Government Funding Instrument/Tool meetings co-ordinate assessments and claim submissions for individual residents.
- Supervise and co-ordinate on-going, timely completion of all required Government Funding Instrument/ Tool - related activities.
- Responsible to the oversight of collection, submission and reporting of quality benchmarking data.
- Take overall responsibility for Cultura Residential computerised residential care documentation system.
Qualifications and Experience
- Be a Registered Nurse with current Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia registration.
- Hold or be working towards a relevant tertiary qualification in nursing/health/business management.
- Have recent experience of, demonstrated expertise in, and awareness of, contemporary issues in aged care practice, care, and quality service management.
- Have demonstrated expertise in management of nursing/care staff within an aged care setting, including managing Government Funding Instrument/Tool.
- Have an understanding of the migrant experience, with empathy and sensitivity to the needs of the elderly from different cultural backgrounds.
