Position summary
The Community Development Program Coordinator works with new and emerging communities from refugee, asylum seeker, and migrant backgrounds to deliver projects and activities that build skills, knowledge, and capacity. Using a strengths-based, human rights, and family violence prevention approach, the role supports individuals, families and communities to foster respectful and healthy relationships, strengthen social connection, and improve settlement outcomes. The role also involves building and maintaining partnerships, facilitating community capacity building, and supporting advocacy to ensure community voices are heard.
This position will be contracted on a maximum term part time basis until 30 September 2026, working 15 hours per week.
Duties
- Plan, deliver and evaluate community projects with new and emerging communities.
- Use a strengths-based approach, human rights framework, and family violence prevention lens in all work.
- Work with local government, schools, service providers and community groups to improve settlement outcomes for all family members, including women, men, young people and children.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with community leaders, volunteers and other partners.
- Use co-design approaches with communities and partners to plan projects, activities and services that respond to community priorities and needs.
- Facilitate community information and education sessions on settlement, health, wellbeing and respectful relationships.
Qualifications and Experience
- Ability to speak Arabic.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work cross-culturally and build respectful relationships.
- Current driver licence.
